Bailey's Title of Liberty.

I was reading in this months Ensign about a lady who decorated the walls of her play room with the Gospel Art Pictures. This gave me an idea. In trying to find someway to really get my kids involved with the scriptures and make sure that they had a daily reminder of who they are and where they came from, I decided to take the same pictures and tell the kids a story every morning during breakfast. Of course we start off with a prayer and after we share the story we talk about how they can apply it in their own lives. Sunday we read about Capitan Moroni and the Title of Liberty. This got me thinking.
Why couldn't we have a "Title of Liberty!" A motto that we live by. Something that we could remember every time we were faced with something difficult. So for family night this week we took an old shirt and "rent" it and on it we wrote our own "Title of Liberty." "I will Make Righteous Choices." Tearing the shirt and writing on it really made an impact on the kids. Reese kept walking around saying "He teared his shirt." Now she is saying "I will make righteous choices!" It is so cute my heart melts. Hopefully as they go out into the world and leave the safety of our home the last thing they will see is this motto; and maybe with the Lords help it will sick with them and protect and help them.

Lance's 1st day of 1st Grade ( and the Girls 1st Day of Preschool)

Lance started 1st grade today (Aug 24th) after waiting all summer. His words before leaving the house were: "Who wants to give me a hug before I leave for the 1st grade." Both Claire and Reese were more than willing. He was out the door and waiting in the car before I had a chance to give him a hug. He was so excited to get to school it was all I could do to make him wait until 8:25 am.
Once at school he insisted that he needed no help finding his class and would not let me walk with him to his class room (I hadn't gotten ready for the day and was still in my work out clothes so I really don't blame him).
I assume he made it to class alright because he was there with all of his classmates when we arrived to pick him up. We are going to try and walk home from school this year as long as weather permits. We will see how that goes.
Once we arrived home after dropping Lance off Claire declared that it was time for "Preschool". I cold not even put her off long enough to shower. So scrambling to find something to do "Preschool" with we printed off some letter pages, made letter A's out of applejack's, and hearts out of paper squares.
Apple Jack A's (Reese did a really good job all by herself)
I love the way Reese always sits on her toes like that. You should see her calf muscles. At 2 they look like she has been wearing high-heels her whole life.
In desperate need of a shower I gave the girls string and more applejack's so they could make necklaces. This kept them busy for a while. Of course once they were done the quickly ate them up, along with their apple and peanut butter snack.
Last of all they got too spend a few minutes on the computer. PBSkids.org is a great website for kids. Before we knew it it was time for lunch and then we set off to get Lance from school. Best thing about today. There as been all most no fighting. I am however very exhausted.

Lance's missing front teeth Aug 15th 2010

After several months of waiting, Lance's second front tooth loosened enough to be pulled. That makes a total of four lost teeth and an amazingly goofy smile. Love the tooth fairy pillow I made. Its mouth is a little pocket to deposit lost teeth and retrieve payment. I have to make mention that it took all of about 20 minutes for Lance to bribe Claire to do something for him with use of his tooth fairy dollar. Easy come and easy go.
