My Modeling Debut

So I have been busy creating again, but this time it as been selfishly aimed in my direction. While I was in Idaho, Mom and Anjeanette helped me make some skirts for my nieces, Brittin 17 and Taylor 15. We couldn't really use the same pattern I had used for the little skirts I have been making (although I made one for my other niece Lynzi who is 16 and it looked really cute on her) so we got creative and took patterns off of skirts that we already owned and loved. They turned out so cute that this week I decided to make a few for me. I do post these pictures with a disclaimer: I am in no way a fashion model and I do not have any plans on quiting my day job to become one.

Twirly Girly

So I got creative the other day and decided to make Claire a ballerina skirt. I didn't take long to make but the reaction I got from her was wonderful. She wouldn't take it off for the longest time. She danced all over the room pretending to be a ballerina. You should have seen the neighbors faces as the watched us parade over to the Youse house to feed spooky. She was twirling and twirling and leaping all the way there and back. What a joy she can be when she is crying. I love her to death.

The Jensen Wedding

Our good friends Michelle and Dan Jensen got married June 19th. Michell lived with us for a few months before they got married and though we didn't know her when she moved in by the time she moved out she felt just like family. The kids loved having her with us and the only consolation to her getting married is that she lives a few blocks away and is still in the ward. In fact Claire would rather sit with them in church on Sunday which is great because she is much more well behaved. The wedding was beautiful and the reception was nice. Dan and Michelle make such a great couple and we are so thankful for the opportunity we have to know them.

The Beach

So who can travel to California without stopping at the beach. 6:30 am Sunday morning we literally rolled out of bed and drove to the beach. We just walked along the shore for a few hours and let the kids play in the water, write their names in the sand, and look for sea shells. We played in the surf and felt the sand move from beneath our feet while the tide went in and out. It was just a wonderful way to start the day. We did it right, because we left before the people and the heat arrived. The whole trip was worth it.

Leah's Wedding

Zack's youngest sister Leah got married on June21st at the temple in New Port Beach. I didn't even know that New Port Beach had a temple, but they do and it is beautiful. It was a great day. We had family pictures taken in the morning and then spent an leisurely afternoon getting ready for the wedding. They had a small reception that evening at Dane's grandparents house, just a few friends and family. Leah made a gorgeous bride and I think that Dane and her are two peas in a pod, just perfect for each other. Leah's dress was wonderful. She designed it herself and Mona sewed it. (Look out Vera Wang.)

It was fun to see all the Bailey's together. We would have been complete had Sally, Emma, and Miriam been there. (Laura's girls)

The kids were all so cute at the wedding, and fairly well behave considering the time of day and the heat. Reese and Henry were not quite sure what to think of each other. I kind of think that they look alike in this photo.

The Hotel in Newport Beach

We left around 2:00 am on the morning of the 20th and drove through the night so that we could enjoy as much time with Zacks family as possiable. The kids did great and we got to the hotel at about 11:00. We ate lunch and took a little nap and about 1:00 Aunt Anna and Uncle Herman got there. When they knocked, Claire ran to the door, threw it open, and upon finding two faces that she was not real fimilar with slammed the door shut with all her might. It only took a few minute in the pool with Uncle Herman and Aunt Anna before she was all over them like sunscreen on a white man. We spent the rest of the day in the pool and as you can see we didn't even get out to pee. The kids had a great time and loved the water. Lance was so entreged by the idea of the hotel he kept asking if we could move there. He so loved his Uncle Chris that the night before we left he wouldn't go to sleep until Chris came to say goodbye. We had such a great time.

While we were at the temple Marla stayed behind to watch the kids. Claire had done real well warming up to new people and really loved having all of her aunts and uncles pay so much attention to her, but the whole while we were gone Lance and Reese napped, and Claire hid between the toilet and the tub. Who can figure out her erratic behavior?
